Hazardous Waste Management Rules came into effect in the year 1989 and have been amended later in the years 2000, 2003 and with final notification of the Hazardous Waste Rules, 2008 in supersession of former notification. The Rules lay down corresponding duties of various authorities such as CPCB, SPCB while State Pollution Control Boards/ Pollution Control Committees have been designated with wider responsibilities touching across almost each aspect of Hazardous wastes generation, handing and their disposal.

SPCB Consent to Establish :
All the industries and activities needing consent must obtain consent to establish before actual commencement of the works for establishing the industry/activity.
SPCB Consent to Operate :
This consent needs to be taken before actual commencement of production including trial production. This consent is valid for certain duration which needs to be renewed.
SPCB Renewal of Consent to Operate :
The consent to operate has to be renewed after certain period.
